Fair Play for Children
Fair Play for Children exists to promote understanding and action on the Child's Right to Play. We are based in the United Kingdom where we have a Membership base - we want to help Fair Play for Children attitudes and activities develop world-wide. We provide services to our Members and others, and we publish a regular journal, PlayAction, plus other publications.
Families Information Service
If you are looking for childcare or any information relating to children and young people aged up to 20 years, then the Families Information Service can help. They provide free, up-to-date, accurate and impartial information about: *Childcare, *Children and young people's activities, *Issues relevant to children and young people and those caring for them, *Resources, *Training, *Working with children and young people.
Family Action
Our aim is to improve children's social and emotional development. Support parents, reduce conflicts in families, support children in schools, prevent breakdown, therapeutic work, support children through bereavment process. Direct work and groundwork. Our team consists of a project manager, a family support coordinator, a child family mentor, a family support worker and a therapeutic support worker.
Family Group
This group is for parents and carers of children (0-16) with special needs, including behavioural difficulties, disabilities and medical conditions. The group is run in schools in the local area during term time, rotating between The Hill school, Goosacre School, Sandhill School and Great Houghton School on a weekly basis. Family Group - Thurnscoe
Sure Start Thurnscoe Family Group is for families in Thurnscoe with children of all ages who may have a disability, medical condition or special educational need (including social, emotional and behavioural difficulties). The main purposes of the group are: *To bring parents together to broaden social and support networks, *To provide support and comfort to parents, * To discuss issues and share ideas and experiences, * To provide relevant information, and *To give a ‘collective voice’ to families of children with particular needs in Thurnscoe. The sessions are on a drop-in basis and you do not need a formal referral to attend. Refreshments and Childcare arrangements are available (and free) within the Community Room if you wish to bring your children. For more information please contact Sure Start Thurnscoe.
Family Group Conference Services - Barnardos, Yorkshire
Works together with families, communities and agencies in order to safeguard and promote the welfare of children and young people. A family group conference is a family led meeting which empowers family members to find solutions to the issues and difficulties they face and develop plans that best promote the interests of their children. Key Aims of the FGC Service: * To empower families to find their own solutions to the difficulties they face * To reduce the number of children/young people who are looked after by the local authority *To prevent family breakdown * To reduce the number of children who are excluded from school.
Family Support Drop In
Buttercup Children's Centre offer a Family Support Drop In within the Children's Centre. It can be difficult bringing up a family so come along and have a chat about anything that you may be having a problem with or just if your fed up or lonely and need someone to talk to. You can see the Family Support Worker by appointment or just drop in. Everyone is seen privately.

NCH Barnsley provide signposting and support for families who have children with learning or physical disabilities. Call NCH direct for more information or the Disabled Children's Team on 01226 298508 for a referral.

Royston Meadstead Children's Centre Family Support Worker is available to offer advice on children's behaviour, sleeping, weaning, feeding and coping with stress to name just a few. They can also help you to access other services with may be useful to you.
